Pepper Art & Design is a full service art studio specialising in the production and teaching of hand crafted pottery and ceramics, original paintings and artworks and hand crafted jewellery.
Karen Pepper, world-renowned contemporary artist and designer, was born and raised in South Africa and has spent the past 20 years working as a professional artist. Having recently settled in the UK, her home studio is now open and she continues to enjoy the success and status earned to date. Karen's two daughters, Jade and Julia (both following artistic paths in visual, literary and entertaining arts) often work closely with Karen on large scale commissions and projects.
Karen's focus is on contemporary abstract fusions of African and European influences. Rich and earthy, lyrical and dreamy, intellectual and intense, her work shows a discernable theme, but no two pieces are the same.
Karen strives to combine a sophisticated colour sense with rhythmic, joyful and intricate decorative detail. The result is a richness of colour and depth of design achievable only by the hand of a skilled and imaginative artist. Her approach to traditional objects results in extraordinary functional art that is meant to be used and enjoyed.
Pepper Art & Design undertake both private and corporate commissions and work mostly to order, but we always have a wonderful selection of works available in our studio for viewing and sale.
